Scholars From Nankai University Law School Appointed as Hearing Officers of People's Procuratorates in Tianjin

In April, 2022, in order to promote the comprehensive and in-depth development of procuratorial hearing and make procuratorial hearing play a positive role in helping legal supervision and promoting judicial justice, the Tianjin People's Procuratorate and the procuratorates under its jurisdiction at all levels start the establishment of the hearing officer pool, and select hearing officers in the city-wide public. The above acts are carried out in accordance with the "Guidance on the Construction and Management of the People's Procuratorate Hearing Officer Pool", "Tianjin Procuratorate Hearing Officer Selection Work Program" and other provisions,


After the application recommendation, qualification audit, comprehensive investigation, proposed appointment public notice and other procedures, Professor Liu Shixin, Professor Yang Wenge, Professor Wang Qiangjun, Professor Yan Erbao from Nankai University Law School were appointed as procuratorial hearing officers. Among them, Prof. Liu Shixin was appointed by the Tianjin Municipal People's Procuratorate; Prof. Yang Wenge, Prof. Wang Qiangjun was appointed by the First Branch of the Tianjin Municipal People's Procuratorate; Prof. Yan Erbao was appointed as a hearing officer as well as an invited assistant prosecutor by the Tianjin Jinnan District People's Procuratorate.


The public selection of hearing officers, especially the selection of grass-roots representatives and professionals in law, medicine, economics, science, engineering and other fields to the hearing officers pool, is one of the important initiatives to the city's judicial system. Such acts could implement the prosecution hearing system, promote judicial openness, safeguard judicial justice and enhance judicial credibility. Nankai University Law School selected professional teachers to serve as hearing officers of the people's procuratorates at all levels, such decisions could not only let legal experts to participate in judicial practice, but also promote the formation of the court and the prosecution to build a positive interaction mechanism of sharing intellectual resources and promote the interaction between legal education and judicial practice.
