"Ocean Governance, Environmental Rights Protection and Sustainable Development in the Anthropocene Context"-the International Symposium

From Sept.21st to 23rd, 2022, the International Symposium-"Ocean Governance, Environmental Rights Protection and Sustainable Development in the Context of the Anthropocene" was successfully held at the Law School of Nankai University. The international seminar was reported and cited by People's Daily, Tianjin Daily, Jin Yun and other authoritative news media.


The international symposium was hosted by Nankai University Law School. Nearly 60 renowned experts and scholars from China, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden, Italy, the Netherlands and other countries attended the seminar, delivering in nearly 50 lectures on the topic.


The domestic universities attending this international symposium are: Jilin University, Xiamen University, Nankai University, Ocean University of China, Hainan University, Southeast University, Tsinghua University, Wuhan University, Beijing Normal University, Fudan University, Sun Yat-Sen University, Chongqing University, Tianjin University, Dalian Maritime University, University of International Business and Economics, Nanjing Normal University, Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen), Tianjin Foreign Studies University, East China University of Political Science and Law, Southwest Petroleum University, China Foreign Affairs University, Hefei University of Technology, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics.

The international symposium was attended by overseas universities: Dalhousie University, Canada; National University of Singapore; Wollongong University, Australia; Deakin University, Australia; University of Urbino, Italy; and University of New South Wales, Australia.


In addition, some well-known research or affairs institutions also participated in this seminar: the Chinese Society for the Law of the Sea, the Center for Chinese and American Studies, the Fridtjof Nansen Institute, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law in Sweden, the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, and Gen Law Firm.


At the peak of participation, a total of about 200 people participated in the online and offline integration exchange. Prof. Liang Qi, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Nankai University Committee and Prof. Song Hualin, Dean of Nankai University Law School delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Prof. Gao Zhiguo, President of Chinese Society for the Law of the Sea, Cui Manshun, Secretary of CPC Committee of Law School, Zhang Zhiwei, Vice Dean of Law School and Zhou Cuicui, Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee of Law School attended the international symposium, and Prof. Chen Bing, Vice Dean of Nankai University Law School delivered a speech at the closing ceremony.
