Lecture Review: Associate Professor Shen Jinzhong Explained the Theoretical Definition and Realistic Observation of Environmental Rights

On the morning of Apr. 1st, 2022, the lecture "Before the Law" started. Shen Jinzhong, associate professor of the Environmental and Resource Protection Law Teaching and Research Office, brought a lecture on "The Environmental Rights: Theoretical Definition and Realistic Observation" online, and gave a detailed lecture on theme selection, historical origin of environmental rights, academic research, practical review and legislative promotion.


In terms of theme selection, Professor Shen Jinzhong pointed out the points worth discussing and studying from the position and the transformation of environmental rights, in accordance with researching experience.


Talking about the history of environmental rights, Professor Shen Jinzhong sorted out the historical origins of environmental rights with the cases of the United States, Europe and Japan as the background.In the academic research of environmental rights, he explained the system composition of environmental rights from the four perspectives of citizens, enterprises, countries and human beings.He also discussed whether the rights of natural objects can be regarded as the subject of rights, and enumerated different protection modes of legal, judicial and public interest litigation means.At the end of the lecture, Professor Shen Jinzhong gave his personal thoughts, which provided a new perspective for teachers, students and alumni to think about the system of environmental rights.


It is reported that "Before the Law" is the lecture held by the teachers' representatives of the Nankai Law School, which aims to teach frontiers knowledge and practical cases of different law categories, and promote the training of rule of law talents in the new era.
