Multi-volume Series“Chinese Legal History Series” into The library of Law School

On Dec. 17th2021, a large series of books on the history of the legal system (420 volumes), edited by Associate Professor Feng Xuewei, was added to the Library of Nankai School of Law. The History of the Chinese Legal System Series is a 16-page (787 x 1092) hardcover book with excellent paper and fine printing, each volume is about 400 pages, and the 420 volumes total about 160,000 pages and 104,932 thousand words, worth RMB 380,000. It is an important reference material for the study of Chinese legal history and legal bibliography.


The series is a series of books from the Centre for Cross-Science of Chinese and Foreign Civilisations of Nankai University, which contains 185 kinds of legal documents in all ages, and is by far the most concentrated series of books on traditional Chinese legal science, criminal consultant(Xing mu) science, processed files, proposals and notices, document of cases, judicial tests and modern transformation of traditional law. The main contents of this series are listed below:

1. important codes and legal writings from the Tang to Ming dynasties

2. compilations of Qing dynasty legal codes and laws and legal writings

3. new laws, drafts and compilations of laws from the late Qing Dynasty

4. related reference of processed files and proposals and notices

5. Literature on documents of cases

6. Judicial tests and literature on criminal consultant(Xing mu) science and litigation
