Dean Fu Shicheng gave lectures on“The development of Nankai School of Law and the growth of students”

On November 5th 2021,the lecture series “The Door to Law” was successfully held at the School of Law of Nankai University.Professor Fu Shicheng, Dean of the law school, gave a lecture on“The development of the law school and the growth of students”.


Fu introduced law school teachers and students from the aspects of the course development, professional construction, personnel training, school faculties and students, alumni and the growth of law students.


Talking about the history of the law school, Dean Fu Shicheng introduced that Nankai University did not have a separate law teaching or research institution at the beginning of its establishment in 1919.But there were already a number of law courses in the business school and the political science department at the time, with a large number of law masters in the Nankai University.


They are Professor Sun Qilian(the secretary of Li Yuanhong), Professor Xu Mo, Professor Hsiao Kung—chuan, professor Mei Ju-ao( who represented China at the IMTFEwhere Japan was judiciable after World War II), Professor Zhang Jinjian and Professor Wang Ganyu(known as the “Father of Chinese administration law). Since the establishment of the Faculty of Law in 1980, the Institute of Law in 1985, the International Economic Law Institute in 1995, and the Virtual School of Political Science and Law in 1994,the School of Law and Political Science was establishedin 1998, the school of law established in 2004 and developed into a college with nine secondary disciplines of law, Nankai University School of law is booming.


In terms of professional development and talent cultivation, Dean Fu introduced the four-in-one talent cultivation model of "classroom lectures, extra-curricular academic activities, campus culture and social practice" that has been formed in the School of Law from 1981.Dean Fu presented the development from  undergraduate law students enrollment to the experimental classes of "Economics and Management Law" and "Information Security-Law" pilot class, to the juris master, LLM, JD and post-doctoral mobile station.


At the end of the lecture, Dean Fu Shicheng expressed his care for the development of students and teachers in the School of Law and said that "students are the biggest reason for the existence of the Law School". The lecture lasted one and a half hours and ended with a lively atmosphere and warm applause from the students.
