The National Copyright Administrationpublished the the 13th National University Students Copyright Essay Competition Award List recently. The essays handed by Nankai University studentswon two best achievements: Yang Tianhao won the first prize of graduate student group for “Rethinking and Reconstructing the Originality of Works in the Context of Legal-Philosophical Personality Theory: A Perspective on the Characterization of Artificial Intelligence Generative Objects”, liu Yuanzhe, was awarded the first prize in the undergraduate group for “The Dilemma of Determining Appropriate Citation in Copyright Law And Corresponding Suggestions”.
The instructors of both essays are Zhang Ling, director of Department of Civil and Commercial Law, Professor and PhD supervisor. Professor Zhang Ling was awarded the Outstanding Instructor Award. Due to the outstanding performance in this Campaign, the Tianjin Copyright Bureau has awarded Nankai University the honorary title of“Outstanding Institution of National University Students Copyright Essay Campaign in Tianjin”.
According to Judging Method of the competition, the organizing committee will check repetition rate of candidate essays through software. Then the committee will select no more than 1,000 essays for expert review according to the repetition rate.
During the preparation stage, the School of Law attached great importance to and actively promoted relevant work, mobilizing and organizing more than 30 students to participate, and specifically conducting training and exchange seminars. Professor Zhang Ling, Associate Professor Xiang Bo and Associate Professor Xie Qingchuan provided detailed guidance to the candidates on essay writing and other aspects. The winning students in previous years also shared their experiences about the competition.Thanks to the concerted efforts of faculty and students, School of Law has achieved a breakthrough this year.
